In recent years, Vans has really taken their brand and products to new heights through thoughtful collaborations, partnering with a broad range of entities such as Harry Potter to independent skate labels. By fusing the DNA of their creative comrades into their own product, Vans successfully communicates modern skate culture through decades of old models such as the Sk8-Hi, Old Skool, and more. This time around, the Anaheim-based brand shines a light on Baker Skateboards, the American skateboarding brand by Andrew Reynolds known for their funky skate gear and crazy kick flip videos on Instagram.
The story is in the details as the two brands cooked up a new footwear collection using two iconic Vans silhouettes in the Sk8-Hi and Old Skool. Both pairs take on the standard materials of black suede and canvas uppers with white side stripes, but are boldly contrasted with Baker Skateboarding logos on the side panels and their ironic slogan “Giving Skateboarding a Bad Name Since 2000” stamped across the midsoles. Keep an eye out for a stateside release date as these are expected these to hit select Vans retailers soon.
