Established in 2017 by multidisciplinary artist Josué Thomas, Gallery Dept. was born from its founder’s love of vintage clothing. And with their first-ever collaboration with Vault By Vans, the label is bringing its tastes to an entirely different canvas — namely, the OG Old Skool LX.
Covered in many a different print and graphic, the Gallery Dept. x Vans Old Skool LX combines Josué Thomas’ passion for vintage clothing and art to form one cohesive, albeit chaotic vision. Bridging the DNA of the two brands, the pair effectively turns Thomas’ own memories tangible, its design harkening back to his time wearing Vans. The pair also draws direct inspiration from punk show flyers, as is evident across the magazine clippings plastered throughout the shoe. What’s more, “ART THAT KILLS” is embroidered onto the heel, “Gallery Dept.” is stamped atop the midsole, and “Good Luck!” is written repeatedly along the laces.
Enjoy a closer look at the Gallery Dept. x Vans Old Skool LX ahead. The collaboration will be available at the Gallery Dept. locations in Miami and LA and online via gallerydept.com on May 12th and May 13th, respectively. A global launch will then follow via Vans.com and select retailers on May 19th.
In other news, the CLOT fragment Dunk Low is also going live on May 19th.
