In the age of constant collaboration, the effort has lost some of its special quality. Yet, groups like Kids of Immigrants continue to head into any joint-project with purpose and story-telling. For its latest endeavor, the Los Angeles-based collective has joined forces yet again with Vans for the Old Skool “Anything Is Possible.”
Committed to community empowerment, KOI never hesitates to draw inspiration from its direct surroundings and the upbringings of its immediate members. The “Anything Is Possible” slogan speaks to the sacrifices made and journeys embarked on by the parents of the brand’s members. Although it didn’t always feel like it, these loved ones discovered and proved that one could dream and achieve the once unimaginable. Corduroy, shearling, velvet, paisley and patent leather materials take over the Vans Old Skool, harkening back to collective upbringings. Furthermore, a “Chinese laundry bag-inspired insole;” yellow waffle-pattern outsole informed by household lamps; and coordinates pertaining to the apartment where Kids Of Immigrants started round out the high-personalized pair.
Beyond the footwear, the “Anything Is Possible” message has been used as an opportunity to highlight extended members of the KOI community, including spiritual speaker and author, Rob Hill, as well as Aurora Santos, Jenny Le and Kika Keith, three tenacious women that’ve had a role in mentoring future generations via the various organizations in which they partake throughout Los Angeles.
Enjoy campaign imagery from the Los Angeles collective here below. An early drop will occur via the Greenhouse app on August 18th, with a standard launch occurring via the kidsofimmigrants.us web store on August 20th.
Elsewhere, the black Bad Bunny adidas Forum finally releases on August 17th.
